Week 10 Fantasy Football Predictions for Quarterbacks

This is an old fantasy football article from 2007. If you're looking for the latest analysis and projections in fantasy football, please visit our new website, FantasyFootball.TheSportsWatchers.com.

Well, last week we finally got the showdown that everyone was waiting for; the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. And while the Patriots certainly won the battle, and may even go on to win the war, Peyton may have come out as the “top quarterback.” Yes, Brady looked better in the 4th quarter, but overall Peyton was in control of the game and did as much as he could and put his team in a position to win the game. Brady clearly has the better team, and having the “if all else fails” play with Randy Moss, helped bail Brady and the Patriots out of deep 4th quarter hole.

That said, welcome to Week 10 of fantasy football. It should be a good week. Unfortunately, for you Patriots’ player owners, you will not have the services of Mr. Tom Brady. That means the rest of the fantasy football world can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that they will not have to mess with another three touch down day from the Brady.

There are some truly interesting match-ups this week, especially the ones that involve a couple of rematches. Therefore, I am going to be a little bias this week and focus in on the games pitting two teams against one another for the second time.

So here are you Week 10 Fantasy Football Rankings for quarterbacks.

1. Carson Palmer – Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens: Carson Palmer is having a great season statistically. He is completing 65% of his passes, and he is on pace to amass 4,400 passing yards and 32 touchdowns. However, his team’s defense is horrible. Nevertheless, for fantasy owners, all that means is that Palmer will be forced to throw the ball more. Earlier this season against the Ravens, Carson did very well throwing the ball against their vaunted defense. He mainly attacked the sidelines and curl routes, staying away from deep passes and anything over middle. Expect him to do the same, and by stretching the Ravens defense horizontally, that should open up something deep late in the football game.

2. Brett Favre – Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings: Favre threw for 330 yards in his last outing against the Vikings. I do not expect anything too different this time, as the Vikings continue to be deficient against the pass and the Packers still do not have a rushing game. Favre will throw the ball early and often, and I do not expect the Vikings to be able to cover the Packers receivers at all.

3. Eli Manning – New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys: Eli Manning actually had a pretty decent game in the Giants loss to the Cowboys in Week 1. He threw for over 300 yards and led the team to one heck of a surge in the 4th quarter. The Dallas defense has gotten no better since then, as they rely mainly on their offensive prowess. Thus, I expect Manning to have an even better game, especially coming off a bye-week to prepare for the Cowboy’s poor secondary.

4. Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants: In the Giants last game against the Cowboys, the Giants defense was thrashed. However, that was in Week 1. Coming into week 10, the Giants defense has been doing well and has dominated six straight teams with no problem. That is the defense I expect to show up this weekend against the Cowboys, and it should be reminiscent of the Sunday Night football game these two teams played last year, with the Giants defensive line terrorizing Tony Romo. However, Romo’s elusiveness will allow him to make just enough plays against that weak Giants secondary.
