Another NBA season is upon us, which means that it’s time for another round of NBA Predictions.
You all have seen our NBA Power Rankings and both the Western and Eastern conferences, and while we have plenty of faith in those, our predictions for the season don’t necessarily correspond with those rankings.
So without further adieu, here are our NBA Predictions for the 2009-2010 season as determined by the staff at TheSportsWatchers.com:
NBA Divisional Winners
Atlantic: Boston Celtics
Southeast: Orlando Magic
Central: Cleveland Cavaliers
Northwest: Portland Trailblazers
Southwest: San Antonio Spurs
Pacific: Los Angeles Lakers
Conference Champions:
Eastern Conference: Boston Celtics
Western Conference: Los Angeles Lakers
NBA Champions: Boston Celtics
As a New York Knicks fan, and a guy who didn’t think the then, newly-formed trio of Celtics would work out, it pains me to pick the Boston Celtics to win the NBA championship. But analyzing it objectively, there is just no other conclusion I can come to. While I think the Lakers will be a formidable matchup in the finals, probably taking it to 7 games, I just find it interesting that despite all of the talent the Lakers have, they only have one guy to turn to when they need to be bailed out. That worked out for them in last year’s finals, because the Magic didn’t have anyone to turn to when they needed instant offense. But against the Celtics, who play great defense and are now the most versatile team in the NBA, that’s not going to cut it.
